Halloween at Hartwell Nurseries is a must-visit for any parents of small children in Buckinghamshire! They have an excellent trail set up that is perfect for little ones aged 3-10 years old. There’s nothing to stop people outside of this age range enjoying the experience, but I’d say it really is younger children who would be able to make the most of it.
Located in Stone, between Aylesbury and Thame, Hartwell Nurseries have lots on offer when it comes to seasonal fun. Their Halloween trail is no exception to this! Costing just £3 per person, and with under 2’s getting in for free, this is definitely one of the cheaper Halloween activities in Buckinghamshire – which is just another reason to visit!

So what’s included?
Your entry fee for Halloween at Hartwell Nurseries covers your entry to their spooky Halloween trail. Pick up a quiz at the entrance and work your way through the trail to find the answers. There are plenty of Instagrammable props and photo opportunities (a must have for all experiences and days out now, am I right?!) along the way as well as some interactive games.
You can take as little or as long as you like to complete the trail, it’s totally up to you.
Once you’re done with the trail, there is a small pumpkin patch with a variety of pumpkins and gourds for picking. Prices for this start at just £1.50, and there is a small pumpkin carving station set up near the exit of the trail. You can carve any pumpkins you purchase here, for no additional charge.
When you’ve finished with the trail, hand in your quiz sheet in exchange for a small, edible prize.
Halloween at Hartwell Nurseries – essential info
Located on the right hand side of the garden centre car park, there is plenty of free parking available. However, it is the same car park that regular garden centre guests will be using, and it can get very busy so that is worth bearing in mind.
Whilst the car park is tarmaced and accessible for wheelchair users and prams, the trail itself is on a grassy field. When dry, it’s easy enough to push a pram over. I can’t speak for wheelchair use but imagine it probably wouldn’t be too tricky. However, in wet or muddy conditions, it would probably be impossible for wheelchairs or pushchairs to navigate.
The whole event is outside and uncovered (except the pumpkin carving station which is in a gazebo). If the weather’s looking a little grey, make sure you’re dressed for the weather!
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on the lead at all times and must be picked up after.
Is Halloween at Hartwell Nurseries worth the visit?
Yes, yes and yes. It doesn’t cost a lot but it feels like you get a lot for your money. A trail with a quiz to complete, pumpkin picking and carving, some spooky surprises and plenty of photo opportunities. It’s a huge return on your investment of just £3!
I also loved how much effort and detail had clearly gone into the trail. It doesn’t look like it’s been thrown together as a way of generating extra income and cashing in on a seasonal event. It felt well thought out and like someone had really taken their time on it as an event. I think I loved it just as much as my three year old did!
If you’re local or in the area, I’d definitely recommend a visit!
