We made a visit to Dessert Disco upon recommendation from a friend. I’m so pleased that recommendation was made, because I’m not sure I’d have found it otherwise. It really is a bit of a hidden gem, but one we absolutely loved!
Set back from Leighton Buzzard town centre, down a side street, Dessert Disco looks quietly unassuming from the outside, just your standard cafe. But head inside and upstairs and you are in for a treat! The lights are off, the disco lights are glowing and alllll your favourite pop songs are playing. There’s tables for parents to sit and relax whilst the kiddies head to the dance floor, have a boogie or play with the soft play. It’s such a cool concept and I hope its successful at sticking around for a long time to come.

What do you need to know if you visit Dessert Disco?
Dessert Disco is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11-5 and Sunday from 11-4. Each day has a different offering for parents and children. You can find their online timetable here, but to summarise, it looks a little like this:
- Tuesday – Mums coffee social. Despite the name, dad’s are welcome too! This is a chilled out session with with a soft mat and sensory toys, creating an environment for mums to meet and have a chat whilst their babies have some fun, sensory time.
- Wednesday – Humpty Dumpty Sing Along.
- Thursday and Friday – Soft Play and Disco Sessions – The lights go off, the tunes go on and your kiddies can explore the soft play or bust a move on the dance floor whilst you enjoy your cake!
- The last Friday of the month – Glow Party – This takes disco party to a new level with glow sticks and glow in the dark accessories, as well as 10% off all food and drink!
The cafe is small, so when you visit Dessert Disco, they prefer you not to bring a pram. If you have to bring a pram, they ask that where possible, you fold it up.
The cafe is not completely accessible for wheelchair users. Downstairs is fine, but there are only steps to get upstairs to the disco area, no lift.
There is parking nearby in the town centre car park, a short five minute walk away. There is no direct parking at the cafe.

What’s on the menu when you visit Dessert Disco?
The menu at Dessert Disco is pretty extensive. There seems to be something for everybody! From waffles to crepes, pancakes to cookie dough, ice cream sundaes to milkshakes, I challenge you not to find something you’d enjoy.
The prices are fairly reasonable too:
- Ice cream sundaes – £7.99
- Shakes – Regular £4.50/Supersize £6.50
- Ice cream in a tub or cone – £3 for one scoop/£4.50 for two scoops/£5.50 for three scoops
- Cookie Dough – £6.50-£7.50 depending on toppings
- Build your own waffle/crepe/American pancakes – £5.50 – £9.50 depending on toppings
Coffees, teas and soft drinks are available too.

What’s our verdict?
We really enjoyed our visit to Dessert Disco!
There were some cons – I’d say the fact it’s not very accessible and also the fact it’s not very big. However, I can appreciate this is a relatively new business, and so I would hope to see a change to both these factors with expansion of the business. A bigger property would allow for more accessibility and a bigger disco space.
Jett is almost four, but he enjoyed the soft play and the toys that were provided. As I’ve said, the space just wasn’t very big. If there had been more than the four children who were there when we visited, I can imagine there may be some struggle to fairly share the soft play shapes and toys.
The service was excellent! Staff were helpful and serve with a smile, chatting away with you as if you’re an old friend and offering menu recommendations. Our order was taken quickly and food didn’t take long to arrive at all.
The cafe was clean and well kept and I loved the pink décor (of course!) Even the toilets were pink!
I’d definitely visit again, taking Ace along this time too, and I’d love to attend a glow party. You can actually hire the venue for private parties and I would be tempted to do this for Jett’s birthday next year. You can find out more about that here.
Some fun, some food… it’s all inside Dessert Disco! (Almost got you there, didn’t I?)
