Are you ready to visit Tumblestone Hollow? Full of magic and wonder, excitement and adventure, Tumblestone Hollow is the perfect family day out in Oxfordshire.
Set against the beautiful backdrop that is Stonor Park, think of a magical woodland playground and you’ve got Tumblestone Hollow.
I’m not called the mum behind the magic for nothing; if something seems to be a little more special than normal, it’s right up my street, and this is exactly how I felt about this place. A little more special, a little more magical than your ordinary play park.
Whilst our tickets were kindly gifted to us in exchange for a review, all thoughts and opinion’s expressed here are my own.

Planning to visit Tumblestone Hollow? Here’s the details…
Tumblestone Hollow is set within the vast landscape of Stonor Park, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, RG9 6HF.
They are open on quite sporadic days here and there, and open more regularly during seasonal events. To check their full calendar for the year ahead, have a look on their website here. They are mostly open between February and September, then run special Halloween and Christmas events on top of that.
Ticket prices are as follows:
- £10 for adults
- £10 for a child over 105cm
- £8 for a child between 92cm and 105cm
- FREE for children under 92cm
- FREE for carers
There is an additional £2 charge to tickets bought at the door. If you’re unsure about heights, don’t worry – they have a troll at the door ready to measure you!
Parking is free but is on grass, so can get muddy. Beware of this in poorer weather.
Your ticket to Tumblestone Hollow also allows you access to the beautiful Stonor Gardens.
There are toilets and baby changing facilities on site.
The park – both Stonor Gardens and Tumblestone Hollow – is not accessible. It is built on the side of a very steep hill with narrow footpaths. You can just about get round it with a pram, but I don’t think you could attempt it with a wheelchair. If you can ditch the pram, definitely do.
There are places to eat on site offering hot food and other refreshments, but you are also welcome to bring your own food. There are quite a few benches and picnic tables, but the park is so vast – you won’t struggle to find a picnic spot with gorgeous views.

Exploring the play park
Tumblestone Hollow was a huge investment for Stonor Park, costing around £250,000. It’s an investment that seems to have paid off, because there are very few places like this around.
Aimed at children up to the age of 12, Tumblestone Hollow is more than just an outdoors playpark. It’s an invitation into a magical world, allowing visitors to step into a bigger story, being introduced to magical characters and following along on their journey. You can actually buy the story of Tumblestone Hollow from the gift shop, to really immerse yourself in the magical world of the Moon Witch and other mystical characters.
Younger children might prefer to play in the sand pit, which is complete with some cool water features and pulleys, plus a small slide and castle structure. Older children may prefer to climb a little further up the hill. Here they will find what can only be described as a treetop castle, connected to a treetop house via a two-tiered bridge.
There are scramble nets and two giant slides, climbing walls, bridges, walkways at different levels… and the best part is, you can see your children on all of it, at all times. Whilst I did see some adults joining their children on there, including Jonny going on with Jett, (it’s certainly big enough to allow for this!) you can also sit down and somewhat relax, knowing your children are in view at all times.
You might not be so relaxed about watching them navigate an adventure trail up in the treetops!
Separate to the main adventure trail, there is also another playhouse on stilts with a medium sized slide out of it, and a zipline. When you visit Tumblestone Hollow, you’ll see there really is something for everyone!

What did we think?
We loved it. We loved walking around Stonor Gardens as they were absolutely beautiful. Jett loved the sand and water play area so much he actually cried when we said we had to leave! I loved the magical touches of having chapters of the Tumblestone Hollow story dotted around the play area. I also loved that you could have story sessions with the Moon Witch herself!
My only comment would be the price of food was quite expensive – £5.50 for a bacon roll! We didn’t want to spend a lot of money on food, and we hadn’t brought a picnic. This meant we had to cut our visit short. Next time, I’d definitely take a picnic so that we could spend longer there!
