The WUKA Stretch Cotton range of period pants have just landed – and you need to try them!
Famously known for providing inclusive period products and successfully lobbying for the removal of tax on period products, WUKA (read: Wake Up, Kick Ass) is an award-winning brand that focuses on inclusivity, sustainability and breaking up the stigmas that surround periods.
I have never tried WUKA products before so wasn’t sure what to expect. However, having suffered with awfully heavy and uncomfortable postpartum periods since my second son was born, I was ready to try anything that would help make them more manageable!

Wearing WUKA!
My WUKA pants arrived in the most beautiful packaging – light pink floral-patterned cardboard, all recyclable of course, and all incredibly discreet. You would never believe such intimate products were inside!
I had ordered the Stretch Cotton pants in a size XL. Made from buttery soft cotton that feels so silky to the touch, and being completely seamless, these pants claim to stretch to four sizes – either a size 1 (XS – L/6-14) or a size 2 (XL – 4XL/14-22).
The first thing I noticed when I put the pants on was just how comfortable they were. They really were so soft and almost had a luxe feel to them. You’d never guess they were there to replace the bulky pads that can feel so uncomfortable.
The next thing I noticed was the fit. The WUKA Stretch Cotton pants have actually been designed to be flexible enough to accommodate for bloating on your menstrual cycle, which around 70% of menstruating people experience. I thought this was a great feature, especially as severe bloating is something I suffer from myself. I am a size 16, occasionally an 18 on the bottom, so ordered a size XL (a size 2).
This size fitted me perfectly. They were incredibly comfortable and I could move around in them with ease, with some stretch definitely there to accommodate bloating. Soft, stretchy – I am ready for the most comfortable period of my life!

That being said, I feel it’s important to note that there was only a small amount of stretch to the pants. I couldn’t envision these stretching up to a size 22 with any kind of ease. It did seem like the sizes must come up quite small. But as a size 16/18, the size 2 pants fitted very comfortably for me. My recommendation would be – size up.
So what makes the WUKA Stretch Cotton pants so great?
Aside from the comfortable fit and feel of the pants, there are several other benefits to them.
Being made of cotton means the WUKA Stretch Cotton range is much better for you than sanitary pads, which being made of plastic and harsh chemicals are more likely to cause you irritation. This risk is completely minimised thanks to the kind-to-skin cotton the pants are made of that allows your skin to breathe.
And, like all the other WUKA products, these are sustainable! They can be worn for two years. In that time, just one pair of pants replaces 196 single use pads or tampons! How brilliant is that?

I’m yet to try WUKA Stretch Cotton pants whilst on my period but I am excited to. If you have a light period, they can be worn for 12 hours a day! If it’s heavier, you may need to wear them for less, between 4 and 8 hours.
Fancy trying the range? They currently have 10% off until the end of January with code COTTON10 and every order of the Stretch Cotton Range will come with a free lavender bag to keep them in (whilst stocks last).
Will you be trying the new Stretch Cotton range? Have you tried WUKA products before? Let me know!
